The Quarry

On Saturday, June 26, we went to the Quarry Park in St. Cloud. It's an old granite quarry that's been restored to a public mixed-use park with swimming, hiking, biking, diving, and more.

The boys went there for a trip and we started with a picnic before we went hiking.

There's some rasberries and cheese, says Spencer. I can eat a couple, then run around.

This is a big scoop where they used to move rocks and red granite.

My turn in the scoop!

I made a bet with Derek that i could move this big piece of granite.

Here's a big blade to cut the rock.

It looks like they didn't get all the rocks out of the quarry. Should we re-do the kitchen counters?

This big piece of rock is a perfect stage.

The view from the top of a rock pile. We're above the trees. Funny, mom and dad had to carry an extra 23-pounds up the steps.

Here's the swimming hole. The boys got dunked from the dock, but didn't get in. We didn't have life jackets for them and the water is 35-feet deep at the end of the dock. We weren't comfortable testing the bouyancy of the boys on a Saturday in St. Cloud.

After we got out of the water, we had to walk across this floating bridge.
