Derek's Saturday Dirty Dozen Football Picks

Well, my mom and dad are cleaning the house. I guess now that we're 80-days old, mom and dad can get to some sort of routine.

They got this vacuum cleaner thing out and it was a little loud. However, the carpets look nice.

They're also cleaning up about 11 weeks of junk mail. Does anybody respond to that stuff? Maybe these advertisers should use a mix of broadcast ads and online marketing.

I went 8-4 last week. I was wrong on Michigan and Georgia Tech, but got it right on 66%. If I were a student in a Fulton County School, that might even be an "A" - glad I'll attend Cobb County Schools here in Georgia.

My season total is 17-7, around a 70% winning percentage. Not ready to set up an 800-number with 5-star picks of the year. If I go 10-2 at some point, I'll think about it. (Hey, formula costs money - at least that's what Daddy says when he leaves in the morning).

Today's picks:

Wisconsin over Minnesota. UW wins this year. The Badger recruiting pipeline from Minnesota seems to have slowed down since Minnesota brought in a new coach. People have asked, how does Derek feel about Bielema? Well, year three of a transition is always difficult. Ask the Large Mound of Not So Many Touchdowns at Notre Dame about the third year. Next year will be the telling year. How is the talent? Are they disciplined? The penalties and the mistakes that have cost games start in the summer and during practice on Monday and Tuesday. That's 100% organization and planning. We'll see if that improves for Bucky. Today, though, the beat Goldie.

Boise State over Idaho. The game is in Moscow in a dome that resembles the shell at Camp Randall and broadcast on Local TV. BSU in a rout.

Texas over Kansas. Horns win even though the Kansas coach tries to eat Colt McCoy for a snack in the third quarter. I better stop making fun of over-weight people since Daddy hasn't worked out in five weeks. He's been busy feeding and changing diapers. He could still finish the 1/2 marathon on Turkey Day though.

Tulsa over Houston. Daddy says that you bet with your head and not with your heart. Tulsa's coach went to the Bobby Petrino School of No Commitment and stood Rice up on prom night one night after agreeing to go to the dance. Still, his team will probably beat the Coogs.

Georgia over Auburn. It's the oldest rivalry in the SEC. Today when mommy went to get McDonalds for breakfast (I prefer the McGriddle when it comes in breast milk), she saw lots of Dawgs making the 2-hour drive down I-85 to the Plains for the game. Auburn's D is good. Georgia still wins and keeps the focus on a New Year's Day Bowl Game.

Ohio State beats Illinois. Revenge.

Florida beats South Carolina. In a weak weekend for matchups, TV is working to hype this game. Florida wins.

Michigan beats Northwestern. If UM loses, the world might end. Or, my cousins will post mean comments on Facebook about Coach Rich Rod.

Missouri over Iowa State. Bet Texas A&M wishes they would have recruited Chase Daniels and not let the Dallas kid go to Missouri.

USC over Stanford. Revenge for last year's loss and Google's stock dropping below $300 this week.

UCLA over Washington. Speaking of picking winners, Rick returns to Seattle. Rick wins.

Penn State over Indiana. Sorry cousin Nico. The Hoosiers are pretty bad.

That's all for this week.
