Spencer's Sunday Six-Pack of NFL Picks

Hi everyone -

Spencer here.

Daddy and I hiked today with Astro while Mom and D went to the store. We saw a hawk circling above us. I got a little worried the hawk might eat Astro, but it ignored us. We also saw a ton of Canadian Geese in the river. No snakes, deer, rats, or racoons today.

Now, on with my NFL picks for the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We're going to have to pick on Wednesday night next week since the Turkey holiday is really about football. The Cowboys play that afternoon and the Longhorns play that night.

Daddy always says football is better viewed on TV since the game in 2008 is really made for TV. Going to the games is about spending time with people at the tailgates, in the stands, in the suite, or in the club section. Bill Simmons from ESPN wrote a good piece about that here.

#1 - Bears over Rams. The Bears "vaunted" defense is pretty weak. They don't really have an offense. But, the Rams are terrible - I mean really bad - so the Bears win. If not, every sports talk radio host in Chicago will spontaneously combust about 4:30 CST.

#2 - Saints beat Packers. New Orleans has a great offense and the fans in The Big Easy get excited for big games. The Dome will be loud. New Orleans wins in a barn burner. And, if you're gambling, take the over. Plus, Packers are handicapped since another legendary Wisconsin brand, 94 WKTI went away two weeks ago.

#3 - Browns over Texans. The Texans have been a lousy road team since their first season in 2002. They've lost 7 of their last eight on the road. I think their last road win was against the Raiders. The Junior Tackle League from Freeport, Illinois could beat the Raiders. The Texans will start a QB named Sage. Sage went to Iowa State. Do you really think the Texans will win?

#4 - Cowboys over 49ers. In the 80s ad 90s, this was a marquee matchup. In 2008, it's not.

#5 - Falcons beat Panthers. Falcons won't lose 2-in-a-row at home.

#6 - Chargers beat Colts. It's just a gut feeling. Plus, Daddy thinks Manning is an over-rated quarterback and a below-average actor. I guess this would be beating with your heart - something Dad says not to do.

Watch this space later as Derek and I talk about our Atlanta restaurant tour.
